Pocket Tag Card by GDT Apeksha Kothari

Hello Crafty Friends,

A very warm good morning to you all.

Again we are back with a new tutorial and this time we have Apeksha Kothari as our Guest DT in Teaching and Learning Program. Sit back with a coffee and enjoy the tutorial.

Over to you Apeksha,

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are doing well and settling down for this year to end and to start with a new crafty year like me :D This is my first post for Rainbow Craftykari and I totally cannot cope up with my excitement at all. Today, as part of the guest designer team, I am going to show you all how to create a cute little handy pocket tag card which can be used as a keepsake or be gifted to anyone for any occasion.

So, without wasting much time, let’s get started with it.

Please Note
: THIS IS A LONG POST :D

I would like to show you what the final result looks like and then get into the detailed process on how to make one.

Now, let’s see how this is put together:

This is a 10 pocket card and hence you will need 10 pieces of 4” X 8.5” black cardstock for the pockets.

To start with, take one of the 4” X 8.5” black cardstock and place it with the 8.5” (the long side lined up on the top) and score at 4 and 8.

You will be left with a half inch flap which would be used to adhere the piece together to make the pocket. Refer the picture below to see how to add the red tape and fold the piece together and; I have taper the ends here to give a neat look to the final outcome. You will need to make 10 of these. And once all the 10 pockets are ready, we will attach them to one another.

Apply the glue to the middle section of the pocket and attach it to another pocket.

Continue gluing all the pockets to each other and you will end up with something like this.

For each pocket you would need a tag (white cardstock) measuring 3.75”X 4.5” (10 in total) and 10 tag holders to pull out the tags (half inch to three quarters of an inch in size)

With this, we are done with the base.

Now, to make the cover we would need two pieces of black card stock measuring 4”X12”and 4”X9.5” each. Score the 4”X12”piece at 4.25”and 7.25”

And score the 4”X9.5” at 1.75”and 4.75”

You will end up with a 4.75”flap on both the pieces. Adhere them together to create a long piece and fold it as shown in the picture below.

And then attach the magnet to the two overlapping flaps on the top.

With this, we are done with the cover too.

It is now time for us to attach the pockets to the cover and complete the base of the card.

Attach the pockets to the cards where in the flat bases meet each other on both the sides with either liquid glue or red tape (which ever you are comfortable with).

And you will end up with something looking like the below

I have used the pattern paper from Papericious paper pack – “Steal the time”
For the top, I have used a happy birthday die cut in red cardstock and layered it with white cardstock. I then fussy cut it and distressed the edges with Faded Jeans Distress Ink. I then layered it on a black cardstock and fussy cut it to the shape again. I adhered it with foam tape to give it a dimensional effect. I went ahead and added a flower and a couple of butterflies with rhinestones on them. Have a closer look at it.

I also distressed the tags with Barn Door distress ink, added a butterfly as a tag holder and added a rhinestone to it.

For the top part of front side, I die cut the name “divya” in white and distressed it with Barn Door distress ink and added a couple of black rhinestones on each of the letters. Added a small butterfly punch out too.

For the bottom part of the front side, I added a doily, again distressed with Barn Door. Added a ribbon bow, butterfly punch out, a couple of buttons, a couple of mulberry flowers and a piece of net.

The card is complete. Decorate it as per your wish and comfort. Have a look at what I ended up making:
