Notepad Calendar Tutorial By Guest DT Zalak

Bonjour Crafters!!
A very lovely Welcome and a warm Good Morning in this cold winter.

Today in our Teaching and Learning Program, we are presenting you the last (but not the least) Tutorial of the 2016 and We are all ready to welcoming 2017 wholeheartedly. Our Guest DT Zalak has came up with an most innovative way to welcome the 2017 with her New Year Calendar Step by step Tutorial. Enjoy the tutorial with a warm coffee and cookies.

Over to you Zalak,

Hello Crafters,

I'm Zalak, Hope you all doing well and as year is going to end I wish you A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and your family. I really want to thank you Rainbow Craftykari for this opportunity. This is my first Guest DT post and as a guest designer I came up with small Notepad Calendar tutorial, I hope you all will enjoy this tutorial and also make for your friends and relatives. (Excuse me with my bulky project and pictures :D)

This is what final project will look a like.

So Let's start with tutorial ( Base Structure for calendar )

The material for base structure you can use chipboard or cardboard (I have used chipboard). There will be different measurements for both materials so let's see what are the measurements.

For  Chipboard you need following size of cutouts:

6 3/4'' * 6'' (17cms *15cms) - 1 piece
3 3/8'' *6'' (8.5cms *15cms) - 2 pieces
3/8'' *6'' (1cm *15cms) - 1 piece

Now you need to stick above chipboard pieces as you prepare scrapbook album base. Once you stick all pieces you will get below image layout. (I have covered with black CS both side).

Now you need to fold this base such that it will become folding support to calendar as in image below.

So you will now have Notepad Calendar base. Before going for next steps you need to cover the base with pattern papers (I have left blank as I want base to be Black only).

For Cardboard you need 14'' * 6'' (35cms * 15cms) long cardboard cutout.

Now score cardboard at 6 3/4'', 3/8'', 3 3/8'' (17cms, 1cm, 8.5cms)

Same fold cardboard as per above images.

Now you will need 13 cardboard cutouts and 1 base cutout (we will attach all month cutout to this base with ring binder) size of 6 1/2'' * 5'' (16.5cms * 12.5cms) and 6 3/4'' * 6'' (17cms*15cms) according . 12 for each month ( or can make 6 for each month back to back) and 1 for front cover page.

Now after sticking pattern paper to your base structure attach chipboard cutout to a first where triangular shape starts (for reference see below image), and also stick notepad (here I have used sticky notes, size is 3'' * 4''). You will get below final base structure.

This is how your base will look a like after finishing. Hope my tutorial and measurements are clean, if you have any doubts you can drop your query below in comments.

I am now giving you brief information about the front page, which will be look a like below image.

So first I have gathered all materials which are:

Watercolor paper
Papericious brick chipboard
Butterfly MDF cutout
Mama Elephant Number It Dies
Some flowers, leaves, laces, sequins, (flowers and stars), twins
Ranger Texture paste and stencils
Distress ink (picked raspberry, peacock feathers and twisted citron)
Ranger Glossy Accent
Diamond Dust

First I start with watercolor paper and applied texture paste using stencil, let it air dry. Then I wet paper and randomly applied distress inks and mean while it is drying I cut bricks chipboard into various design and colored with distress ink.

Once background was dried I splattered same color for some spots. Before assembling layout I die cut numbers (2017) 5 times and adhered them on top of each other and colored it with craved pumpkin distress ink after that I have applied glossy accent over it and and let it air dry.

For butterfly I have used seedless preserve and picked raspberry distress ink and applied diamond dust over it using glossy accent, same I have done with flowers. Now everything is dried so I started adhering together from lace, chipboard, twins, flowers, leaves, numbers (2017) and butterfly. And for final touch used sequins.

Once you are happy with your layout punch paper to attach with ring binder and use those holes for reference and do for all rest of 12 papers and chipboard (Note if you adhere paper over cardboard then it will be very different to punch them).

Some close up images for front layout.

Now I have decorated rest 12 months pages which you all can see in the below image.

For sentiments and calendar, I have printed them and cut into desire size and attach them on my layouts.

I hope you will like my tutorial post, please leave your valuable comments and suggestion into below comments box. Also feel free to ask your doubts for the post, I will be happy to answer you.

Above listed Materials are available at Rainbow Craftykari Store or you can pre-order.

MM Jewellery / Make Up / Keepsake Box By Guest DT Sunila & Aditi

Hello guys! So excited to share our inspiration post as GDT’s with Rainbow Craftykari.

Today we’ve created a mixed media jewellery/make up/keepsake box for you’ll! We’ve given it a vintage look! This is something everyone girl/woman would want!

Since this is a mixed media creation, it has various layers with different products. To begin with we, brushed the box with white gesso and adhered some die cuts with mod lodge! This forms our first layer of texture. Once dry, we used a stencil and added texture with modelling paste. We then covered our box with black gesso. Since we wanted a vintage look, black base was a good idea! We left it to dry.

Next, we decided to add more texture. By now you would’ve realised that mixed media is all about textures! Here we used a stencil with white crackle paste! This added the dimension we were looking for. Once everything was dry and we were happy with our result,  we added colours using Lindy’s Stamp Gang sprays.

For our focal elements, we hand made roses using the Heartfelt Creations Classic rose stamp and die set. We coloured them using the same sprays and shaped them. We arranged our elements and added a few tags and die cuts to match our theme! We used some lace on the rim and we had this gorgeous vintage memory keepsake box read.

Hope you liked our work. Feel free to ask your doubts.

Altered Palette MM by Guest DT Anushree

Hello everyone,

I am here today on the blog with a lovely post. This project is very close to my heart due to several reasons.Let me show you a picture of the project first and then talk more on this.

Yes you can call it recycling and I totally loved doing each bit of it.This is quiet an old palette almost 10 year old when I started doing oil paintings. After some time I also started teaching oil paintings, once one of my student took this palette to her home, did her work but forgot to clean colors from it. She came back to me after some four months with this and a new palette. She was feeling very sorry and offered me the new one instead…I took the old one but and gifted her new one, for all these years it was lying with me, didn’t know what and how to use it. Few days back I took it out and decided will try my mixed media skills on this, the outcome is infront of you. Few more pictures with close ups.

Final frame with a stand:

Instructions to do:
Since there was already lot of dried paint on the palette so I took it as an advantage to use as background, painted with white gesso (u can try painting with white acrylic as well)and let it dry. After that I did some stencilling with modelling paste on the white painted base. When the modelling paste dried I stuck few diecuts, old brushes, used paints tubes and small piece of white net with tacky glue.Again painted all over with white gesso and let it dry. Then my motto was to fill colors in this white palette for which I used Lindy’s Sprays.Since the colors were very light I gave two three coats of spray work. Then I stuck some diamond dust around with the help of multi medium matte and gave last coat of sparys.Stuck the mdf which I pre painted with sprays, and metal embellishments with some cup sequins.I also added some sentiment tiles to the palette to make it more meaningful.Lastly I attached few handmade flowers and a resin frame . Once again I filled life in my palette and that made me super happy.

Material Used:
1.Old palette, old brushes,White net and used paint tubes
2.White Gesso
3.The crafters workshop Stencil(ART IS)
4. Prima Finnabiar modelling paste
5.Diecuts, Metal embellishments, Cup sequins, Mdf’s, Sentment tiles, Resin frame(from my stash)
6.Joycraft flower die
7.Diamond dust
8.Tacky glue
9.Lindy’s spray Flat Fabio’s set
10.Rangers multi medium matte
