Winter Wonderland Tutorial By DT Priya

Hello Crafty Friends,

We've reached the last month of the year and what a beautiful theme we have for the christmas season here at Rainbow Craftykari blog.

 

I'm Priya with you today with a picture tutorial of my project "Winter Wonderland" 
This is what I've made:

 

 

So let's start the tutorial...

 

Step 1:
I started with making the base for this. I have a lot of thermocol pieces in various shapes and sizes so I decided to make the base with them. Here are the two pieces with which I made the base. 

 

 

Step 2:
I cut the circular piece into half and glued it to the rectangle base like this.

Step 3:
Now I cut a piece of gauze and dipped it in white gesso and adhered on the top part of the half circle. My idea here is to make some effect of melting ice dripping from the roof. After this you can choose to paint the whole with white chalk paint. I did not do it as I'm going to cover the whole surface.

Step 4:
Now I'm going to make the christmas trees. For this I used bottle cleaning brush and cut them into half, colored them and added gesso to give the look of ice on them. For two of them I adhered wooden slices on the base with the help of glue gun and rest two I fixed in the front. You can see the difference in the texture of the trees. It is because I used two brushes one is new one is used and old one. I'll recommend to use new one to get better result. Pictures of all these steps are below.

Step 5:
I fixed two trees at different heights in front. For this I used a small piece of thermocol as the base for the tree attached below. I attached two foam silver stars on the top of both the trees here. Picture follows...

Step 6:
Now I had these pine cones which I collected from our trip to Shimla. These are excellent pieces to use in any craft project. I picked one and brushed white gesso on it and attached to my base beside the Christmas tree.

Step 7:
Now I covered the base with green moss. For this I used Tacky glue and it looked really nice and green. And attached two bells on to one side of the roof.

So, it looked like this after this step is done. Then I went on to add some snow for which I used this... Polyester that is used to stuff the stuffed toys.

Now it's time to decorate this wonderland and add some color. I opted to do some quilling pieces for this.

Step 8:
As you can see in the picture, I used 3mm and 5mm white strips, 5mm Red strips and Black 3mm strips, quilling tool and white glue.

I made a few white and red berries first and here are the dimensions. As you can see I have already made little domes out of the quilled circles. I made them with 3mm strips only and used 2 strips for each big dome and 1 strip for each small dome. Here I have shown the picture of flower wire which is going to be the pedicel for the buds here.

Now I cut the wire and made the bunch of berries as shown in the picture below.

After placing the wire into one dome, I sealed it adhering the other half of the dome.

After making it into a bunch, I attached few leaves from my plant to make it look more attractive and also brushed some white gesso here.

Step 9:
Now I decided to make a snowman and ended up making two. The dimensions are same for both, difference is the strips used; one is made with 3 mm and the other with 5mm.

Their scarf was made out of 5 mm strips just one wrap around the neck and glued in front and back.

Step 10: Now onto our favorite Santa Claus. He looks like this once finished.

For his hair and beard, I used 3mm strips cut into small pieces and curled them. Then I attached them onto it's head like this...

Step 11:
Now I arranged all the pieces on the base and sprinkled some glitter here and there. My Wonderland is ready. Some more pictures...

Family Layout by DT Anila Dikay

Hello Crafters!

Anila here with an Inspiration Post for you all. Today, I am showcasing a "Family Layout". Making layouts is always fun. Every artist has a different technique or style and today I am going to show you how all of us can make an LO with minimal supplies and no fancy techniques. All one needs is an eye for composition. 

Here it is!

Steps Followed:

• I took an 8x8 sized pattern paper. 

• Layered it with another 6x6 family script pattern paper. 

• Mounted the photo using foam adhesive and two pieces of coloured CS at the corners.

• I adhered a lace at the bottom of the photograph. 

• Adhered paper strips and washi tapes on one side. 

• Next, I added the sentiment and the quote stickers. 

• Lastly, covered the corners with flowers.

CAS Cards-Tutorial by DT Priyanka

Hi Lovely People,

Hope you are enjoying the lovely onset of winters? Well, I am most definitely enjoying it with a hot cup of tea all snuggled up in my cosy blanket ;)
There is definitely something amazing about this season with the winter chill, celebration & wedding vibes all around which makes it a December to Remember always.. as they say, "last one but the best one" .. ;)

Without boring you anymore with my love for winters I will take you straight to today's post.

Today I am sharing two CAS cards with you (CAS: Clean & simple Cards), CAS cards are a challenge for me as much as it for most others but this time I decided to do a tutorial on it for you I hope I do justice to your expectations :)

Let's begin

Card 1: 

Step 1: I started with taking a white cardstock, Base dimension: 4.5"X10" & scored it at 5" & now my card measures 4.5"X 5"

Step2: Next I stamped my images Piggy & the fence using Versa onyx ink on a separate cardstock & coloured using the DUO watercolour pencils& fussy cut them.

Step3: I adhered the fence right in the middle of the card using the double-sided foam tape & then the piggy half over it.

Step 4: Lastly, to complete the card I picked the sentiment "I miss you PIG time" & using the Versafine Onyx black ink I stamped the sentiment right below the fence. 

Tada our first card is ready :D easy ain't it??? ;)

 

Moving onto the 2nd Card:

Step1: I again picked the cardstock in the size 4.5"x10" & scored it at 5" to make my card measuring 4.5"X5", I also cut out a cardstock in 4.25"x4.75"

Step2: using my VersaFine Onyx Black ink I stamped images using Clearly Besotted stamp set- I stamped with the animals at the bottom, with just the faces, to give it a look of the animals peeking out and picked the sentiment from the same stamp set & stamped it on a separate tag.

Step3: Using DUO watercolour pencils I coloured the stamped images & distressed the edges of the card stock.

Step4: Using an orange gingham print washi tape I added it above the animals & adhered my stamped sentiment using the double-sided Foam tape

Step5: Lastly I adhered the cardstock to my scored & folded card & Lalala! the card is ready!

Altered MDF Number by DT Mounika

Hi everyone,

I am Mounika and today I am here with an inspirational post. I've used an MDF number for this project and decorated it on a floral theme for a birthday photoshoot.

To start with, I sanded and cleaned the mdf base and applied two coats of chalkpaint. Once it dried, I applied  glue all over the number and stuck lace fabric and let it dry. I next, arranged flowers randomly, once I was satisfied with the arrangement, I glued them all together.

Winter Mixed media Card by GDT Vinita Jain

Hello everyone!

It's December already now and time to say goodbye to the Year 2017 and welcome the coming year!

This time I am presenting a simple but an elegant card as an inspirational post!


Presenting a true beauty of the Season with all joy and festivity! It is in Traditional colors with a lot of theme challenge elements like stars, glitter, snow! Check out the challenge here.

I started by choosing the wooden papers from Papericious, distressed the edges. Applied vintage photo DI on all 4 sides and lay them on a Kraft CS. For the focal panel, At the bottom added a crochet lace and tied a golden string with a pipe cleaner.
Die cut some pine boughs leaves out of green glittered sheet, added some pom-poms, star buttons, rose mulberry flower along with glittered leaves.

Now at the top, I added a big jute flower along with 2 more small jute flowers and decorated them with adding different leaves, pom poms, string.

Now die cut star shape from glitter and burlap sheet and added the star-shaped chipboard on it and created all the layers. Love the intricate design of star showing all the layers!

To finish it up added some snow paste a and crystal clear powder.
Love the snowy and frosty look! Don't you!!!

Altered Jars by Blog Coordinator Aditi Mahajan

Hello everyone,

Hope you've kickstarted your December with enthusiasm! After the Diwali month, December is my personal favourite because of the cheer you get to see around the world! 

Keeping up with this festive spirit, today I am back with an Inspiration post for you. I have also incorporated the December Challenge in my creation. I used the colours Red and Green, Snowflake and Glitter.

I have altered two glass jars which make great gifts for Christmas. I personally have been flaunting them at home. To alter them this time, I decided to use techniques of paper crafting rather than mixed media. 

Here's a look at the Jars:

To make these begin by choosing three to four pattern papers. Cut one to go around the circumference of the jars. Distress the edges and stick it. Next, cut two narrow strips for a different pattern to layer on top. Die cut a circle for the lid. Use glitter cardstock, and die-cut a snowflake element to decorate the lid. Embellish it with flowers and other die cut elements. You could go on with layering and embellish as per your imagination and liking. Fill them with cookies, chocolates, brownie and more for Christmas Gifts. Like you see, they are quick and easy to make so you can create multiple of these at once.
