Recycle Empty Tape Roll Photo Frame Tutorial by Our Guest DT Mounika K

Hello Crafters,

A lovely Good Morning to you all,

We are back today with an awesome tutorial in our Teaching and Learning Program. Our Guest DT Mounika has recycled the glue tape rolls into a beautiful photo frame. So from now onward don't throw your rolls but create a beautiful frame like this. Sit back and enjoy the tutorial.

Over to you Mounika,

Hi everyone,

I am so happy to be part of Rainbow Craftykari Guest Design Team member, my heart-full thanks to Maninder Kaur and Team for this opportunity.

Today as part of GDT I am going to show you  how to create photo farm using empty tape rolls.

We
start with clean the tape roll and softly sand them to get rid of any stickiness and dirt on it. To prepare the base give two coats of gesso and let them dry.

Trace the circle on chipboard using the rolls and cut them for the base and also cut three extra circle in different sizes and pattern papers for the same and distress the edges.

For this I have use Papericious the Floral Season Collection.

Using
Camel texture paste and stencils to create some texture on the rolls and let it to dry. You can use any stencils of your choice.

Once
they are dry, dab them with some acrylic colors using sponge brush, I have used green and blue colors.

Place
all the circle together to make a frame as shown in the picture below and adhere them using white glue. Don't disturb until it dry completely.

For
embellishment, I have arranged mulberry flowers and some lace flowers, once I was happy with the arrangement I adhere them using glue gun or you can use white glue. As I thought of love theme for this project I choose camera, couple birds and dragon fly, arranged them once I am happy with arrangement, adhere them using glossy accent left them undisturbed for some time.

In
the middle frame I adhere a photo and on left side I glued some twine, pearl string and heart, for which is distressed with mustard seed and seedless preserve distress inks and added some diamond dust on it. And for the last frame I added a sentiment and some lace to finish off it.

Here are few close up of finished work,

Our Eighth Guest DT is Karthikha,

I’m Karthikha, from Erode district in Tamilnadu. I’ve settled in Hyderabad, with my loving husband and darling daughter. I work for an MNC as a software development technical lead, and crafting is my hobby. Juggling between home, office and craft is now my hectic schedule!

I’ve been into crafting since my childhood, making simple greeting cards and trying out DIY stuff during school crafts period. I’ve always loved doing something creative and I got it from my mom, who has tried various art forms! However I’m now stuck to Paper crafts – Cards and Quilling. I entered the blog land of crafting a couple of years back and got to know a lot of tools, techniques, crafters, blogs, types of crafts and more!! And I’m still learning! I made some really good friends too!
Card making is my favorite! The happiness you see on the receiver’s eyes on being gifted a handmade card is priceless! And I feel cards make any occasion special! I love stamping, making fancy folds, reusing scraps and trying out different techniques that I learn. I also hoard wedding invitation cards and reuse them for punch outs on cards. Quilling is my next favorite craft and I love to make and wear matching jhumkas!

Right from my childhood, I'm into crafting. I always loved making handmade cards and its my passion. I'm more into scrapbooks and making mini albums. I love to use different kinds of pattern papers to enhance my creativity and to share some knowledge with other people around. Previously, I  used to make to make simple handmade cards just to gift them to my loved ones and friends, but when I joined social media there I saw a huge world of crafting.

Hello Crafters, Let me Introduce myself,

My name is Neha Lunia. I am from Nepal. I did my graduation from here itself. For Post graduation I went to Kolkata to continue my studies but due to some personal reasons I had to leave it in between. My craft journey started in 2014 . Back when I started Craftmaniaa(my facebook page), I didn't even knew such profession exists & it's such a large field in itself. It was my aunt who inspired me to turn my time pass hobby to profession so that I can try more new stuffs, little did I knew then it would change my life in this way. I am not sure if Juhi Khanna even knows that she had been my idol. Not only her work inspired me...even she was too kind enough to explain me few bits about crafting and how can I improve my work. I will always be thankful to her.

Currently I teach crafting to kids once a week in a school. I do love making mini albums, cards, treat boxes. I am new to this field & trying hands on new stuffs. The more I get to know it. Crafting amazes me more. I believe "once a crafter, is always a crafter".
