Blossom Mixed Media Tag by DT Kriti Mishra

Namaste Friends!!

I am Kriti...back again with an inspiration post for the current challenge
Here is the moodboard of the challenge ( Use minimum of any 3 elements from the board)

Here's what I made

I have selected three colours from the mood board....Yellow, green and brown.
Yellow colour signifies joy, happiness, intellect and energy.
Green colour signifies growth, harmony, freshness and fertility.
Brown colour signifies stability, structure and support.
So, that's why I have selected these colours from the vibrant mood board.

For this tag I have cut three tags from the cardstock.
Yellow- 3.75" x 6.25"
Brown- 3.50" x 6"
Green- 3.25" x 5.75"

Adhered them together one onto the other, after that I mixed the yellow acrylic paint with the texture paste and tapped with the palette knife after that I mixed green acrylic paint with the texture paste and again tapped with the palette knife to give some interesting textures to the surface.
 Put some embellishments like brick chipboard( coloured with brown acrylic paint), gauge, flowers and buds.

Now to add more interest to this, I have added few art stones mixed with gel medium, after drying applied some gesso and then coloured it with brown colour.

In the last I had splattered all the three colours with the help of brush and stamped the sentiment.

Friendship Layout by DT Priya Mishra

I'm Priya Mishra and am very excited to share my first DT inspiration post for Rainbow Craftykari blog. I have created a project as an inspiration for our Rainbow Friendship Challenge.
 

Here's what I made...

The theme is absolutely wonderful and I wanted to make something CAS this time. This has been my weakness and I struggle to leave white space with pastel shades. So this was a challenge I took up!

The base is a 12"*12" white cardstock. As the theme is Friendship, I took the photo and the sentiment from google and printed them. For my layout, I began by brushing multi medium onto the whole paper. This creates a very good base. Then, I created texture using a stencil (Bubbles all over) and texture paste. Next, I began adding colour. I used Distress Inks and a brush to spread the colours. I have incorporated all the colours of Rainbow. The chippies are from Papericious and are brushed with a thick coat of white gesso. After arranging the photo and sentiment on the base I added some butterflies, flowers and a few sequins. I layered a doily under the photo mat. I finished it by sprinkling a few drops of colours with a brush.Here are a few close ups of the layout

Beauty Inside The Blooms MM Canvas by GDT Mounika K

Hello Everyone

Mounika Here, happy to share one more  inspiration post for Rainbow Craftykari.  check our blog for ongoing challenge Blooms Magic. Today my project inspired my same challenge made this canvas mixed media

To start with, I had primed the canvas with light gesso, once its dry, I had started free hand out line of girl and than later stenciled using texture paste to create texture.  I've used two different kind of stencils here

Once it dry, had randomly splashed some photo transperent inks and lindy stamp gang sprays until i was happy with the coloring

For flowers, i have used punched flowers, die cut and some hand cut flowers, damped them at the back with some water and using my embossing tool to shaped the flowers .

And finally arranged the canvas with final touch-ups added some inka gold and microbeads here and there. Lastly, added the hand written quote.

Guest DT Pavitra: Magnetic Mixed Media Note Pad

Hello Everyone!

I am Pavitra here, and what a feeling to be on this platform and sharing my work with you guys, thanks you so much Rainbow Craftykari Team for this opportunity .

Today! I am gonna share a mixed media project with you guys.

So let’s get started …..

I had a magnetic sheet which I got with one of the die and was lying as scrap, so I thought of converting the little one into something interesting.

Firstly I sized a canvas sheet to the size of my magnetic sheet and pasted it on top of it with the help of heavy body gel.

Once dried properly I applied a goat of white heavy gesso and again left it to dry, you guys can off course use your heat gun to speed up the process.
 

After that I stamped the canvas sheet with various stamps using black archival ink, here in you can use any permanent ink and can also experiment with colors to add more interested.

After stamping it’s time to add some texture and for that I used modeling paste with a stencil.  

For coloring my background I used distress sprays, working with them is super easy, quick and fun. I simply sprayed the distress sprays  directly on the surface and then sprayed water with a mister to let the color blend.

I left it to dry naturally and start working on my embellishments.

I used die cuts, stamped images and handmade blooms as an embellishment that off course shows how versatile dies and stamps can be, and how we can multi function with them. I die cut cardstock twice and stick the two pieces with clear glue to give it more strength and colored the edges with archival ink and later applied a coat of clear crackle paste.

 

Once dried properly I sponged walnut stain on the entire piece for the cracks to become visible, here in I would like to give a advance always leave your crackle paste or paint to dry naturally, never heat set them with your heating tool as you will not get the desired results.

For coloring my blooms I used archival ink red carnation and shaped them with my embossing tools as shown in the picture.

The yellow blooms are colored with archival ink saffron and also embossed the similar way, once I m done with all the blooms the dust them with diamond dust and clear glitter. I also used various leaf cutouts to compliment my blooms.

Finally I arranged my blooms on the magnetic sheet and also tied a twine to add more interest.

Now it’s time for finally assembly, I stamped a cage image and a sentiment with black archival ink and dust them with clear glitter for a shuttle shine.

And here is the finished project ready to be adorned in my room, since its magnetic it can be placed on any metal surface. I thought of writing some positive quotes on the pad and off course blooms are going to add on that only.
